Darrouzett Independent School District (“Darrouzett ISD,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is committed to safeguarding the privacy of our students, parents/guardians, staff, and visitors (“you”). This Privacy Policy applies to all online services published at Darrouzett ISD Webpage and any sub-pages hosted on ParentSquare’s SmartSite content-management system. It covers data collected through:
- Public webpages
- Online forms and surveys
- Embedded ParentSquare posts and feeds
- Single Sign-On portals that use ParentSquare, Microsoft 365, or Google Workspace credentials
- Analytics cookies and similar technologies

3. Information We Collect

- Usage analytics (pages visited, time spent, click paths) via ParentSquare analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
- Cookies for authentication tokens, language preferences, and accessibility settings.
3.3 Single Sign-On (SSO) Data
- Directory ID, name, and district-issued email address.
- User role (student, parent, staff) for permissioning.
Passwords used with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace are not shared with us.

We do not sell or rent Student Data for commercial purposes. Disclosures to government authorities occur only as required by law.
6. Parental & Student Rights
Under FERPA, TDPSA, Texas Education Code §26, and the SCOPE Act, parents (or eligible students aged 18+) may:
- Inspect and review Student Data.
- Request corrections to inaccurate records.
- Opt out of directory information releases.
- Withdraw consent for optional data uses.
- Exercise TDPSA data-access rights (fulfilled within 45 days).
Submit requests via privacy@darrouzettisd.gov. Identity verification is required for all requests.
7. Children Under 13 (COPPA)
Darrouzett ISD obtains verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information online from children under 13, typically through signed enrollment forms or ParentSquare digital consent workflows. Parents may revoke consent at any time.
8. Security Measures
Our cybersecurity program aligns with NIST Cybersecurity Framework v2.0, SB 820, and the TEA K-12 Cybersecurity Initiative.
- Encryption: TLS 1.2+ in transit and AES-256 at rest.
- Identity & Access: MFA, least-privilege role assignments, and annual reviews.
- Monitoring & Audits: Continuous log monitoring, quarterly scans, and annual audits.
- Incident Response: 24×7 reporting channels and 72-hour breach notifications.
9. Retention & Destruction
Records are retained per the Texas State Library & Archives Commission (TSLAC) Schedule SD and TEA guidance. Data nearing end-of-life are destroyed in compliance with NIST SP 800-88 media-sanitization standards.
10. Accessibility & Translation
This website is built on ParentSquare SmartSite, which meets WCAG 2.1 AA standards and offers on-page translation tools. For alternative formats or languages, email privacy@darrouzettisd.gov.
11. Policy Updates
We review this policy at least annually and whenever laws or services change. Updates appear on this page with a new “Last Updated” date. Significant changes are also announced via ParentSquare or email.
